I don’t even know where to start on this topic because this is one of my favorite things to capture on a wedding day. I will always recommend a private exchange of notes between a couple on their wedding day and here is why….
1. It’s an emotional sentimental moment for just you two. A lot of the time on your wedding day you’re surrounded by friends and family talking and partying, so it’s nice to pull just yourself and your partner aside for a moment just you two can share.
2. If you don’t want to do a first look but still love the idea of it, do a first “touch” on either side of a wall or back to back and read notes to each other just to make the moment even more surreal before the moment of walking down the aisle!
3. If you don’t want to read personal vows in front of everyone at your ceremony, do it during your first look or afterward during your portraits and have a little moment to yourself before heading back to the party! This way you still get the intimacy, minus the audience!
And lastly, it’s a beautiful photo opportunity – yes there will be tons of photos of you two throughout the day but there’s something different about these photos that just really capture the emotion, joy, and love between two people and the commitment they are making. It’s really one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments and it is bound to bring some tears. (Even from me behind the camera LOL WHOS CUTTING ONIONS IN HERE?!😭)
